Fiesta Binancional Dos Aguilas
Two Eagles Binational Fiesta

March 13, 2004

Tart and tantalizing perfectly described the incredible gourmet delights and the Museum's vibrant lime and plum decor as it hosted Fiesta Binacional Dos Aguilas on March 13, 2004. This annual fundraiser directly benefits the San Diego Natural History Museum's binational research and education programs while furthering the event's mission to "publicly express our commitment to binational understanding, education, and partnership" within our great southern California and Baja California peninsula region.

Now in its fourth year, Fiesta Binacional Dos Aguilas again lived up to its feted reputation of being "one of the region's spiffiest of binational galas" according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's former columnist, Neil Morgan. Chaired for the third straight year by the outstanding mother-daughter team of Yolanda and Yolanda S. Walther-Meade, 450 guests from the United States and Mexico gathered to savor gourmet tasting stations, regional wines, tequila, and martinis-all graciously donated-and to enjoy toe-stomping musical entertainment. $115,000 was raised during the evening.

Honored this year for their binational partnerships were Socorro and José Fimbres, founding family members of Grupo Calimax, Baja California's regional supermarket chain, and Joan and Ambassador Jeffrey Davidow, former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico and newly appointed President of the Institute of Americas.

Mil gracias to the 2004 Fiesta Binacional Dos Aguilas Sponsors who helped make this event such a success. And a special thanks to Where Was I? Events for contributing countless hours of creative and technical expertise to this successful evening.
